Moving Meat

Maybe I have a slight obsession with the meat industry in Santiago. Maybe its living nearly next door to the slaughterhouse. Anyways, here is some beef moving from the truck to the butchers.

Tzanchaj

The temporary housing shelters in Tzanchaj house some 200 families displaced by Hurricane Stan in 2005. These are some of the children growing up there.

Boozin

I teach now on Thursdays in this little computer lab crunched between three cantinas. I leave for lunch to see who could not make it home before 1 p.m.

All Dressed Up

and still being such a grump to other dogs. Sometimes it is really funny, or even cool when the other dog looks mean and/or aggressive. Most of the time it is just really embarrassing. Birdie lunges for some sad street dog that looked at her the wrong way. This dog did not fight back so it ended quietly -- with Birdie prancing away in her polka doted ribbon (thank you Debbie Peace BTW).

These are the meat butchers in the Santiago market. A bit different out of the Styrofoam packages in the supermarket.
